How does a person improve their connection to self?
This can be done through guided reflection of one’s body language, emotions, use of words, thought patterns, and physical experiences in the body. Learning to sense and feel what is happening internally bridges the connection to understanding yourself at a deeper level, and will offer you insights into your patterns and more meaningful solutions to your problems.
My skillset combines body-focused (somatic) techniques as well as traditional talk therapy, which is helpful because many mental health problems are not isolated to troubles of the mind; we feel many of the symptoms in our physical bodies. Therefore techniques for regulating the body’s symptoms are strongly beneficial in the processing of difficult emotions.
My counselling training highlights techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Gestalt Therapy.
